Beloved Professor Passes—Alexander de Lahunta, DVM ’58, Ph.D. ’63, emeritus James Law professor of anatomy and de facto founder of veterinary neurology, died August 17 at the age of 88 at his home in New Hampshire. Regarded as a legend at the college and in the wider realm of veterinary sciences, de Lahunta was a world-renowned pioneer in veterinary anatomy, neurology, and education. Affectionately nicknamed “Dr. D.,” de Lahunta was a beloved, influential teacher, and he enhanced the lives and education of countless veterinary students at Cornell, including our own Dr. K.
